Are you getting the overtime pay that
you deserve? Michael Shultz is a
Kansas employment attorney with nearly
25 years of experience who represents
Kansas employees in wage and hour
disputes, including claims for overtime
pay.
Mike Shultz is dedicated to helping
employees with wage and hour law
issues, including overtime, both under
the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and
the Kansas Wage Act. Mike has
represented numerous Kansas
employees with overtime issues,
helping them obtain overtime and back
pay.
We want to help you obtain the overtime
pay to which you are entitled. You work
hard and you are entitled to be paid what
the law requires. If you think you have
not been paid your overtime, you should
consult a Kansas lawyer who knows
overtime law. An experienced attorney
can help you examine your job duties
and decide if you are owed overtime pay.
If you work more than 40 hours a week
and do not fit into one of the exemptions
in the law, you are entitled to overtime
for all hours worked above 40, and the
overtime pay should be time and a half.
If you bring a lawsuit, you might be able
to collect double what you are owed if
the employer cannot give a good reason
for having violated the law.
Kansans work hard for their money, and it is only fair that they be
paid lawfully. Often, employers can make mistakes and not pay
employees what the law requires. Other times, employers might
knowingly violate the law. If you believe that your legal rights
have been violated and that you have not been paid what you are
owed, you should consider seeking a competent Kansas
employment attorney who represents Kansas employees and who
understands federal and state wage and hour laws.

Most wage and hour cases can be taken on a contingent fee basis
where there is no cost to the employee unless and until there is a
settlement or judgment in your favor.

THE FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) AND THE KANSAS WAGE PAYMENT ACT
|
Both the federal government and Kansas have adopted laws governing the wages
and hours of employees. However, concerning minimum wage and overtime pay,
Kansas law does not apply to those employees who are covered under the federal
Fair Labor Standards Act or FLSA. Thus, since the vast majority of Kansas
employees are covered by the federal law, this website will only discuss the FLSA
as it relates to minimum wage and overtime.
However, the Kansas Wage Payment Act is still important and it is used when an
employer has refused to pay an employee his lawfully earned wages. For more on
the Kansas Wage Payment Act, click on Kansas Wage Law in the navigation bar
or click here for Kansas wage law.
For information about federal minimum wage and overtime laws, click on Federal
Wage Law on the navigation bar or click here for Federal Wage Law.
